50 Free SAT Practice Tests (2026): Official, Mock and Section Tests

50 Free SAT Practice Tests – tablet showing adaptive modules

The SAT is the college admissions test used by universities in the USA, and it’s accepted by many universities in Canada, the UK, Australia and elsewhere for undergraduate entry. It’s run by the College Board and taken in the Bluebook app on a laptop or tablet. Booking it costs money, and international students also pay an extra fee, so you should practise properly before test day. You don’t need to pay for practice to do that: the College Board gives away its official practice tests, and many prep companies and free sites add more.

The SAT has been fully digital since 2024, and it’s shorter and adaptive, so we’ve favoured free resources made for the digital SAT. We’ve collected 50 of them in one place, with a link to each: official practice tests, free full mock tests, free section tests, official question banks, free maths and grammar lessons, and free video lessons. Some entries are a set of several tests, so in total there are far more than 50 practice tests here. Every link was checked in October 2026.

First, a quick reminder of the digital SAT format

  • 2 hours 14 minutes, in 2 sections, with a 10-minute break between them. You take it in the Bluebook app at a test centre.
  • Reading and Writing (64 minutes): 54 questions in two modules of 27 questions and 32 minutes each. Every question has its own short passage, and the questions test reading, vocabulary in context, grammar and punctuation.
  • Math (70 minutes): 44 questions in two modules of 22 questions and 35 minutes each. They cover algebra, advanced maths, problem-solving and data analysis, and geometry and trigonometry. Most are multiple choice, and some ask you to type your answer.
  • Calculator: you can use a calculator on all Math questions, and the Desmos graphing calculator is built into the app.
  • Adaptive by module: how well you do in the first module of each section decides whether the second module is harder or easier.
  • Scores: a total from 400 to 1600, made up of Reading and Writing and Math scores from 200 to 800 each. There’s no essay.
  • Older material: the paper SAT before 2024 had longer passages, a no-calculator section and different timing. Its maths questions are still useful, but don’t use it for timing or reading practice.

How to get the most from free SAT practice tests

  • Use Bluebook for full tests: the official adaptive tests in the app are the closest thing to test day. Save one or two for the last weeks before your test.
  • Take tests under real conditions: do the whole test in one go, with only the 10-minute break, on the device you’ll use on test day.
  • Review every mistake: go through each wrong answer in My Practice, then use Tailored Practice, the Question Bank or Khan Academy to fix that skill.
  • Learn the Desmos calculator: it can solve many algebra and graph questions quickly. Practise with it, not with a handheld calculator only.
  • Check material is for the digital SAT: anything from before 2024 has a different format and timing.
  • Treat unofficial scores as estimates: use them to track your progress, not to predict your exact result.

Which SAT score do you need?

There’s no pass mark. Many US universities are test-optional, but several of the most selective, such as MIT and Harvard, have brought back SAT or ACT requirements, and good scores can still help with admission and scholarships everywhere. Highly selective universities usually admit students in the high 1400s and above, while many good universities look for scores from about 1200 upward. Universities outside the USA often have their own minimum scores. Always check the exact requirement on each university’s admissions page. Our country guides for the USA, Canada and the UK explain how studying there works. For help choosing where to apply, take our free study abroad assessment.
