Your options, country by country
Costs are estimates for the whole course: tuition plus living costs for its full length, converted to US dollars at approximate rates. Compare them with your US$50,000 budget.

Northumbria University
MSc Computer Science with Advanced Practice
Newcastle · 2 years · intakes: Sep, Jan · rank #12 of 20
Includes a paid industry placement year, which is the strongest CV builder of all the UK options.

Sheffield Hallam University
MSc Big Data Analytics
Sheffield · 1 year · intakes: Sep, Jan · rank #7 of 20
One of the cheapest UK options, in a lively and affordable student city.
Sheffield’s tech scene is smaller than London’s or Manchester’s.

A small job market; many graduates move to the mainland later.
Scholarship: The Tasmanian International Scholarship (25% off tuition) is widely awarded.
Charles Darwin University
Master of Information Technology
Darwin · 18 months · intakes: Mar, Jul · rank #6 of 20

Scholarship: Generous international scholarships, to attract students to Darwin.
Flinders University
Master of Information Technology
Adelaide · 18 months · intakes: Feb, Jul · rank #10 of 20
Adelaide is affordable, friendly and counts as regional for migration, with a growing defence and space tech sector.
Over budget unless you work steadily through the course.
Scholarship: Some merit-based awards, mainly for higher grades.
Canada
4 optionsStrong settlement routes (especially Atlantic Canada and Saskatchewan) and good family options, but study permits are capped and visa refusals for Indian applicants have been high.
University of Windsor
Master of Applied Computing
Windsor, Ontario · 16 months · intakes: Sep, Jan, May · rank #17 of 20
A course designed for industry, with an internship option and a large Indian student community.
Ontario is competitive for permanent residence and jobs.

Scholarship: Research funding is possible if a supervisor takes you on, but it’s competitive.
University of Regina
Master of Engineering in Software Systems Engineering
Regina, Saskatchewan · 16 months · intakes: Sep, Jan · rank #14 of 20
Good value, and Saskatchewan actively nominates its own graduates for permanent residence.
Long, cold winters and a smaller job market.
Scholarship: Some entrance awards, plus paid teaching assistant jobs.
Memorial University of Newfoundland
MSc Computer Science
St. John’s, Newfoundland · 2 years · intakes: Sep, Jan · rank #13 of 20
Among the lowest tuition in Canada, plus the Atlantic Immigration Program after graduation.
A research degree: you need a supervisor to accept you, which is harder with average grades.
Scholarship: Research MSc students are often funded by their supervisor, a big help if you’re accepted.
New Zealand
4 optionsAffordable one-year master’s, friendly admissions and an excellent lifestyle. The job market is small, so plan your career early.
University of Waikato
Master of Cyber Security
Hamilton · 1 year · intakes: Mar, Jul · rank #2 of 20
New Zealand’s leading cyber security programme, and only 90 minutes from Auckland.
Hamilton is small: expect to commute or relocate for jobs.

Needs some maths and statistics: brush up before you start.

United States
2 optionsThe best salaries and up to 3 years of work after a STEM master’s, but two-year programmes, tougher visas and a long green-card wait for Indian nationals.
University of Texas at Arlington
MS Computer Science
Arlington (Dallas–Fort Worth), Texas · 2 years · intakes: Aug, Jan · rank #20 of 20
Dallas–Fort Worth is a huge tech market, and a STEM degree gives up to 3 years of work after graduating.

Scholarship: Limited for average grades: on-campus jobs will help more.
Wright State University
MS Computer Science
Dayton, Ohio · 2 years · intakes: Aug, Jan · rank #19 of 20

How we score
Every option gets a compatibility score out of 100 for each of these eight factors, based on your profile. The overall score is their average.
How likely you are to get an offer with average grades (about 62%) and IELTS 6.5.
Tech jobs nearby, post-study work rights and how employers rate the course.
Safety, quality of life and day-to-day comfort in the city.
How realistic a path to permanent residence is after graduating.
How easy it will be to bring a spouse or family later, and the community you’ll find.
How straightforward the student visa is for an Indian applicant right now.
How the full cost (tuition + living) compares with your US$50,000, before part-time earnings.
How likely you are to win a scholarship or tuition discount with your grades, and how much it could help.
What we’d do next
- Book IELTS (aim for 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0). It unlocks every option here.
- Shortlist 5–6 options: the UK and New Zealand fit your budget best, and regional Australia and Atlantic Canada are best for settling.
- Write a strong statement of purpose that explains your grades and your career goal in computing.
- Apply 6–9 months before your intake, and look for early-bird scholarships for Indian students (often 10–20% off tuition).
- Prepare proof of funds early: each visa needs evidence that you can pay for tuition and living costs.
Sample report for illustration only. “Arjun K.” is a fictional student. Fees, living costs, work rights and visa rules are approximate and change often: always check the latest figures with the university and the official immigration website of each country before you apply. Costs are converted at approximately £1 = US$1.33, A$1 = US$0.65, C$1 = US$0.72 and NZ$1 = US$0.59.
